WHY?
The American Citizen’s Creed is a natural extension of my passion to help people and organizations become the best versions of themselves. In this case the people just happen to be my fellow citizens and the organization the United States of America.
My inspiration came from this passion combined with my deep belief in and love for our country, the growing polarization and divide I see in our country today, and my agreement with President Ronald Reagan’s serious warning that freedom is always just one generation away from being lost. About the Author
Douglas Hammer is a retired US Air Force colonel with over 26 years of decorated service. Having led airmen on the front lines in Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM and IRAQI/ENDURING FREEDOM, he witnessed firsthand the unifying power of a common code, such as the US Air Force Airman’s Creed, in uniting a diverse group of Americans during the most difficult times.
After retiring in 2014, his career of leadership and vision continued in the private sector as a consultant, focusing on organization transformation, change management and building high-performance team cultures. The American Citizen’s Creed is the culmination of his life’s work: a powerful and necessary text born of a veteran’s lifelong passion offering a concise, nonpartisan standard to help America become the best version of itself.
